Training and learning to love fitness

Are you new to fitness? Are you still struggling with determining which days you will work out on? Do your rest days add up to more than your working out days?

What makes you not work out? Time? Motivation?

Working out does not need to take hours out of your day. Increase your intensity and you can decrease the time you need to work out.

Intervals can keep you on track. Timing your intervals will get you even more focused. A lot of working out is spent sitting around recovering when you don’t need to be.

If you haven’t found motivation I would suggest signing up for something. It can be as simple as a class or a 5k run, try something new. Take a friend it can keep you accountable.

When you find a reason to focus on your fitness you won’t want to miss a workout. You start to realize that you feel better and your performance improves with the training you do. These days a rest day usually happens when things out of my control force it upon me (being sick or a busy unscheduled day).

I promise if you stick with working out you will one day no longer be focused on your rest days but to what you get to do that day. Feeling great about yourself will take over and you will find your motivation.

Today I took the boys on a training ride/run for their first triathlon coming up in June. Being able to motivate them and to hear them talk about what they were going to do at the race was amazing.

I am motivated that I can inspire them to get out there and try something new. It makes me feel great! Whether you are a role model for your kids, your family/friends or co-workers you are a role model. Get out there and love your workouts.

Stay active!
